Pretty damned good. You'll notice that the apprentice protagonist looks older than he originally did in those old demo videos. Sony aged him up to ramp up the dangers he'll face and to tweak the chemistry between him and the sorcerer's cat familiar who'll be your in-game companion.
What I like most about my time with Sorcery was how I could quickly mix-and-match spells that had both offensive and defensive abilities. One thing is for certain; Sorcery is the best Move game ever made, and quite possibly, the most accurate one as well.
It falters in a few areas, but excels in a lot more, and that is the hallmark of a good game. If you have even a cursory interest in the Move controller, then do yourself a favour and get this game. This game was reviewed on the PS3. I mean, at first sight, it seems tailor made for games featuring magical wands and wizardry. Thankfully, Sony and developer The Workshop have conjured up Sorcery — a much delayed but very welcome addition to the Move catalogue.
Accompanied by his feisty feline sidekick, Erline, the two must master the art of magic and use it to conquer the malevolent plans of the Nightmare Queen, who appears hell bent on taking over the world. This great-looking RPG is steeped in Irish folklore, giving the game a certain look and feel. It strikes me that this is the kind of application of motion control that would have been exactly what Peter Molyneux envisaged when crafting his Fable series on the Xbox With a simple movement of the controller, spells are cast or potions brewed and imbibed, puzzles solved and evil minions vanquished.
Twisting and turning Move allows you to unlock doors as though turning a key, gulp down a revitalising health potion or rebuild broken bridges. A flick of the wrist sees our budding magician beating banshees and trolls with aplomb. Big foes also stand in your way — some of them quite memorable — although they can take an age to defeat.
Move and shoot, move and shoot. Rinse and repeat. The paths and objectives are linear and offer little by way of exploration too.
As is so often the case with this new-fangled technology, getting Move to do exactly what you want it to is occasionally tricky. The camera can also be frustrating, with your vision inadvertently obscured and often leading to lost health as bad guys home in on you.
Another minor — but fairly obvious — gripe is the likelihood of suffering a few aches and pains the next day after a gaming session. Hopefully the gameplay will match it! Looking forward to this game very much. Good Call on changing the art style. I was really looking forward to this game with its original announcement and now it looks like it has matured into a must have title.
Glad to hear it! The game looks great and thanks for letting us know that its alive and kicking! This game is looking good! After the game was revealed at E3 last year, we heard almost nothing more since then, which caused a lot of us to worry.
Sometimes it pays to keep the faith! I snapped up two more controllers at 25 dollars each. I also love the overlapping use of magic to create stronger spells. Been looking forward to getting this when I saw it debut at E3.
Will there be a Demo to play before it comes out, just so we can get a taste. No word on a demo, stay tuned closer to launch this Spring. Been looking forward to this game since last Summer! It looks awsome, I am happy the game ws not cancelled :b The art and the moves look really good! What about a left handed mode. It handles very well, the motion gestures are simple but responsive. Wow, that looks really amazing. Keep it coming. I like the new direction.
Looking at it now, makes me want it right now!!! Pretty much the main reason I got a move so long ago, and I have to say it continues to look good after all this time. This was the reason i got a Move! Thanks for the update Sid! So this is excellent, they can take their time if they are revamping it like this. After all, I want to play good games. Hopefully this will be the catalyst for more fun, innovative move titles. I have to say Ive only put like 2 hours into my move controllers I bought at launch.
This game looks to be one that would help change that. How a bout a game using sword and shield next. About time! Looks really interesting, so worth the wait, I guess.
I hope you put out a demo…. It is a fun game though. Well, once you have the move you could play more than just 1 more game. I'm sure there's a couple more at least that would interest you.
