After re reading the Plum series for an Amazon discussion group. I have to wonder what relationship is there between Morelli and Stephanie. At the end of book one, Morelli asks Stephanie: after all these years do you think we could be friends.
In book two; Stephanie can not fully trust Morelli because he holds back information. In book three: Stephanie states in her thoughts, she has unfinished business with Morelli. What relationship do you see Stephanie and Ranger having? Mj Nov 11, AM 1 vote. Write a comment Jennifer Sep 07, AM 1 vote. I like that Morelli is the once unattainable guy who is finally succumbing to the zany powers of Stephanie.
It lends to the air of how wonderful Stephanie and her personality is. He has human qualities about him that make him vulnerable to Stephanie. I like that. To me, Ranger is the god-like unattainable man that all women secretly crave.
If he succumbed to Stephanie and ended up asking her to marry him, it would take away from his mystique. I think the dalliance between the two men makes it possible for the author to continue the story for as long as she has. Some people critique Janet Evanovich for that saying enough already while for me, that's what makes the story great. I love the humor and the fun of the books.
They are one of the few books that make me laugh out loud. I say keep 'um coming, Janet. I love Stephanie and her indecision between two incredible men! Abby Dec 05, PM 0 votes. I am enjoying this series so much. I have laughed until tears are going down my face, but so hooked that as soon as I finish reading one book I have to grab the next one. I am on book 12 now. Ranger is the bad boy, the one that makes Stephanie's knees wear but she's too much of an ass to actually let something happen.
Morelli is a decent guy. He's a cop and he obviously loves her. I've never really been able to figure out why she just keeps going round and round with these two guys.
To be perfectly honest I have been less than impressed with these books the last few years. LOL, but I do keep reading them for entertainment for some reason :. Jamie Sep 03, PM 0 votes. Morello is currently marriage material as of book 17 but Ranger may become marrying material. Besides, Ranger is sexy as hell. At this stage, my vote is for Morelli for marriage, but that may change. Ranger is still my favourite though.
And Lula. She's my absolute favourite. Susie May 10, AM 0 votes. I certainly am pro-Ranger, and agree that Morelli is too controlling, I seem to remember that Steph and Ranger have had sex at least once, and that was cool. I get bored with Morelli and his sex, sex, sex. Katherine Jul 28, PM 0 votes. I would say that Stephanie and Morelli are friends but not very close or good friends. Sure they do some small favors for each other but Joe doesn't support her choice of job and some of the people she is friends with.
He also tricks her into giving him information that she has collected that he uses to try and solve cases but he doesn't give her any credit, just criticism. Ranger and Stephanie's friendship developed from their respect of each other and that blossomed into loyalty and trust. They bring out the best in each other. View all 4 comments. Plus we know Ranger has in the past settled down and has a daughter that he still sees sometimes. Stef Jan 10, PM 0 votes. I find the men sort of stereotypical and unsatisfying as characters.
I don't mind her sleeping with them She could do better or be more ok with being unattatched. For once, a character had more than one dimension, even more than two!
Especially the baby; marriage is optional. Or if Lula did, and Stephanie was the babysitter. Change things up, Evanovich. Throw us a curveball. DO something with your characters.
Make me eat my words, please. What the fuck? He could have been completely removed and no one would have missed him. And ta-da! For the first time in my memory, she slept with both of them in the same book, without even being on the outs with Morelli. Ranger barely touched her, and she was all over him. Ranger used to have enough respect for her to stay hands-off unless she was fighting with Morelli, but apparently not anymore.
I hate it. Have some integrity. They might as well have orgies. Maybe Connie, too. Joyce Barnhardt would be so proud. I Would like closure too, you phrased that really well. I do like cupcakes, though ; I almost wish that Janet Evanovich would write a choose-your-own-ending book for the last book in the series.
That way, you could end it with Ranger, with Morelli, or even with Disel for a really strange ending ;. Mar 10, PM. I like the idea of her not choosing. She should be self-sufficient, I think.
That said, I'm Team Ranger, too. Ranger has the hotness factor, but Morelli has the family-guy thing going for him. I'm surprised Diesel hasn't made a move! My BFF and I have argued this love triange to death.
We both like Ranger, but sadly we are getting a bit bored with the books. Evanovich needs to do something different with Stephanie. Have her be on Ranger's side for awhile or even Diesel. Or make a decision who she wants Apr 07, AM. Apr 07, PM. I thought she did--Diesel! Diesel is getting his own book in a few months. Do you think Stephanie will appear so he can flirt with her, or will he have his own love interest? I'm sort of excited about the Diesel book.
I like him and am happy he's getting his own series. I haven't heard, but I don't think Stephanie will play a big role in it. I bet it will cover more of his supernatural world and the group he works for. I didn't really "consider" Diesel, mostly because he and Carl the Monkey are getting their own series, so he won't be popping back into Stephanie's life any more. But we definately need another man to pay lots of loving and sweet attention to Stephanie.
Apr 08, AM. Can't imagine what kind of guy would step in that triangle. Morelli would arrest him and Ranger would just shoot him! Would be fun to watch, though. On the other hand, I don't really know how I want this triangle to end. I think it would be perfect if these two guys were just magically morphed into one man, and then Stephanie would get the perfect guy for herself. Morelli's a good guy. He has the crazy family, family values, good-guy cop vibes, and he loves her like crazy.
But he's a hot head, more likely to run away from their fights than stick around. He'd settle down, but the disagreements would be hell. He loves her, too, but he's not the settling-down kind.
If it's dangerous, he'll lock her in a room. His dangerous side just sort of gets me, though, and gives him the advantage in my book. He's walked into bullets for her, taken out a mobster for her, and his reaction when he thought she was dead and stuffed into the mortician's cabinets--priceless.
