Mara Fox, real estate editor. Join the conversation. It was one of a number of timber towns in the south west area. The mill is thought to have closed in and the area ceased producing timber in Nyamup is now privately owned, and is the only private town in WA.
There are 26 of the original buildings left, including the school, and this building, the community hall. The owner invested considerably to refurbish the buildings and houses. Some were strata titled and sold off, while others now serve as holiday accommodation for visitors. The Town Hall can be hired for dances or other functions, and the whole town can be booked for special events.
The Wilgarrup River runs through the town enabling canoeing, fishing and marroning. Nyamup is close to many of the tourist attractions in the Manjimup area.
